Sehr interessante und abwechslungsreiche Branche mit rückläufigen Arbeitsbedingungen
Bei dieser Tätigkeit handelt es sich vorwiegend um telefonische Betreuung und Beratung von Privat- , Geschäftskunden und Banken in D/F/I und E , in den Bereichen Kreditkartenprodukte, E-Commerce, Online-Banking etc. Als Schichtleiter ist man ausserhalb der Bürozeiten ausserdem für das Team, und die Erreichung der vorgegebenen Qualitäts- und Quantitätsziele verantwortlich. Das Gebiet ist sehr interessant, vielseitig und entwickelt sich ständig weiter. Am besten gefiel es mir ,dass die Arbeit sehr lösungsorientiert ist. Man führt Gespräche und eruiert die Kundenbedürfnisse, um die bestmöglichen Lösungen umzusetzen. Dabei ist es wichtig, dass man das Gespräch produktiv führt, und die branchenüblichen Weisungen und die geschäftliche Ethik einhält. Für diese Arbeit muss man in hektischen Zeiten einen kühlen Kopf bewahren. Das Anrufvolumen ist meistens sehr hoch, darum ist es sehr wichtig, dass man die anfallenden administrativen Arbeiten zeitlich gut organisiert. Man sollte auch das Interesse und die Selbstverantwortung mitbringen, sich immer auf dem Laufenden zu halten. Die Informationen, Neuigkeiten und Lernmodule stehen Online zur Verfügung. Manchmal ist es etwas undankbar an Schnittstellen tätig zu sein, vor allem wenn der Informationsfluss nicht optimal läuft. Schichtarbeit (24x7) ist für Körper und Geist anstrengend. Es ist wichtig, dass man gut auf Schlaf und Ernährung achtet, wegen den unregelmässigen Zeiten. Sport ist dabei auch sehr hilfreich. Für meinen Teil will ich

Gutes Umfeld, schlechte Karrierewege
Die Aufgaben im Job sind anspruchsvoll, fordernd und bauen Know-How auf. Man lernt sehr viel on the job mit dem Wissen aus dem Studium, welches vertieft wird. Bereits früh wird man mit wichtigen Aufgaben vertraut, wobei es auch oft ein Sprung ins kalte Wasser sein kann. Wer viel fragt und sich schnell Wissen aneignet wird in kurzer Zeit zum vollwertigen Mitglied. Allgemein herrscht in der UBS bei vielen eine Leistungskultur. Der kollegiale Umgang ist zumeist schätzenswert und vorbildlich. Die Hierarchien sind allerdings steil, die Beförderungen bauen auf Networking auf und nicht auf gezeigten Leistungen. Jahresbewertungen mit Maximalnoten haben keinen Effekt, ebenso werden schlechte Leistungen nicht abgestraft. Es lohnt sich mehr sich mit den richtigen Leuten gut zu stellen und zu profilieren, als sich durch Leistung auszuzeichnen. Work Life Balance wird für Leute mit Familie gross geschrieben, alleinstehende Personen werden dafür oft benutzt um die Lücken zu füllen. Produktive Mitarbeiter haben immer grössere Verantwortung und Arbeitsmenge, während faule Mitarbeiter nie zurecht gewiesen werden. Faulheit wird toleriert. Die Löhne sind schlecht und bleiben auf dem Basissalär, auch über mehrere Jahre mit ausgezeichneten Leistungen. Beförderungen werden seit Finanzkrise seltener, immer heisst es UBS müsse sparen (sprich kein Bonus, kein 13. Gehalt) obwohl Rekordgewinne notiert werden. Rolls-Royce driven by a racing-car driver
A typical day would start by calling clients to sell financial products in order to meet never-realistic financial targets of UBS, intermingled with handling email requests from clients, payment and trading orders, finishing cold coffee and planning the afternoon. In the afternoon, you would enter all contacts of the morning into the system (a lot of typing), while handling client requests, attending conference calls, requesting updates from product partners, drafting emails for clients and updating management on your progress. You learn to run quickly. You unlearn to think deeply. Management grows in military-grade, goal-oriented, data-driven environment. They do not believe in the power of creativity, long-term relationships, and individual tailoring. They believe in scalable, fast-track, quick-win solutions. Nothing unusual for a quoted behemoth which has to report quarterly. Workplace culture is to ignore management and not to take it too seriously. It's a bit like French resistance during occupation. The hardest part of the job is to keep both the clients and management happy (they want different things). Besides interaction with clients, the most enjoyable part of the job is that if you manage to remain organised consistently every day, you can actually finish at reasonable time to enjoy the evening (but it takes 2-3 hours to unwind and become normal person).

Gestion du changement
Lors de cette année 2014, notre desk Afrique (Genève et Zurich) a connu plusieurs bouleversements tels que le redécoupage des segments clients, l'abandon de certains marchés, le licenciement séance tenante de collaborateurs seniors, la démission de gestionnaires séniors ou encore un changement dans la structure hiérarchique. Toutes ces épreuves se sont enchainées semaine après semaine ne laissant jamais la stabilité s'installé au sein du desk. Face à une telle situation, le management a surtout brillé par son absence totale de leadership et sa communication hasardeuse. Une attitude qui a complètement tué l'ambiance au bureau, laissant place à la peur de l'avenir. Les questions se sont multipliés: Allons-nous être les prochains sur la liste? Que va devenir notre marché? L'Afrique intéresse-t-elle encore UBS? A ces questions, plus ou moins légitimes, personnes à ce jour n'a pu obtenir une réponse ou même de simple explication. Il est clairement difficile aujourd'hui, dans un desk "vidé", de servir les clients avec le même entrain et la qualité qui est la notre. Nous continuerons malgré tout à répondre aux besoins des clients et à honorer leur confiance jusqu'à ce que des solutions soient trouvées...ou que la prise soit débranchée.

Politischer Arbeitsort
Die UBS ist im Accounting/Controlling auf der WM-Seite sehr strukturiert und gut organisiert, aber auf Seitem IB und AM sind die Strukturen mangelhaft und auch die System sind nicht vereinheitlicht und auf einem Stand, den man aufgrund der Grösse des Unternehmens erwarten müsste. Die UBS ist allgemein ein sehr, sehr politisches Unternehmne, das sich schwer tut, wichtige Entschiedungen zu treffen und das auch die Hierarchien lebt und klare verantwortlichkeiten mit vielen Committees umgeht. Führungspersonen und Leute, die innerhalb der UBS Karriere machen, werden selten aufgrund von Fähigkeiten ausgewählt oder Track record, sondern es spielen Netzwerke eine grosse Rolle (vor allem Finance), was erwiesenermassen nicht zu guten Resultaten führt. Ich habe bei der UBS gelernt, dass Netzwerke Firmen bei ihrer Entwicklung behindern können und dass Politik eine zu grosse Rolle spielen kann. Die Leute sind hier nett und hilfsbereit, aber es gibt eine Kluft zu dem Senior Management, das sich nicht wirklich um die Leute kümmert, sondern auch bzgl. Lohnpolitik und Wissen seine Position völlig überschätzt und den "Untergebenen" wenig zutraut, obwohl dort das Wissen sitzt.

Project dependent, fast-paced & intensive banking environment
Working in a team supporting a Client Advisor application, normal day consisted of running a Smoke Test to prove that the system was working (for Business and other stakeholders), then either building Test Cases from complex requirements or running them, then occasionally both on the same day. Learnt much about FX and PM trading, plus how to trace those transactions through the numerous back-end systems. We had a good management team, supported by an excellent & intelligent group of 4 Business Analysts, who did their very best to support the project, QA, Development and give professional feedback to the Business. My co-workers on this project were decent people. The hardest part of the role was sometimes the sheer volume of Business Requirements that we were expected to spec and execute, occasionally we roped in the majority of the project (management, developers, BA's and QA) to help complete testing for particular releases. The most enjoyable part of the roles was working with a decent and professional team who were at the top of their profession.

The Project road map was not defined even in end on January. Management communication is very poor. Vocations plans are not possible to fix while projects are always postponed or cancelled in a short notice, hence high personal flexibility needed. Management are miles away from the reality on the floor shops. Responsibilities are unclear and management has overall low social competencies. Educations, trainings and carrier planning depending only on good relationships and not on performance or needs. New qualifications are made learning by doing but not with proper workshops or trainings for the good start. Lot of things are outsourced - as an example in HR - intermediate reference took 4 months after request however it was produced in analphabetic style.

Sehr gute Sozialleistungen, gute Weiterbildungsmöglichkeiten, gute Entlöhnung, kollegiale Zusammenarbeit
UBS AG ist ein sehr guter Arbeitgeber. Ich habe die Tätigkeit für das Unternehmen immer sehr geschätzt, da man als Individuum aber auch im Team viel Verantwortung übernehmen und auch bei der Optimierung von Prozessen mithelfen kann. Das dynamische anspruchsviolle Umfeld entspricht genau meinen Bedürfnissen. Schwierig und eine echte Herausforderung sind manchmal die schnell wechselnden Weisungen und Prozesse, die es innert kürzester Zeit umzusetzen gilt. Das wiederum macht die Arbeit aber auch spannend. Sicher ein Vorteil ist, dass man sich die Arbeit selber einteilen kann wobei die gleitende Arbeitszeit diese Freiheit noch zusätzlich unterstützt.

- organisation des cours, des examens, contacts avec les collaborateurs, les responsables situés à ZH et les déplacements en Romandie. - Pas d'opportunité de développement puisque délocalisation du service en Pologne. - Parfois compliqué sachant que le management se trouvait à ZH et que les romands sont souvent peu considérés. Mais en général bonnes relations. - Renens et souvent en déplacement. Bien situé avec parking et restaurant d'entreprise. - beaucoup bougé et plus de vie privée. Le stress en continue et être toujours disponible pour rester tard le soir ou venir tôt le matin. Des journées parfois de 12-13h. - Bons contacts, bien pu développer le côté relationnel et ma mémoire. Dans l'ensemble très bonne expérience.

Um 7.00 Uhr war ich im Geschäft, um 8.00 machten wir eine kleine Info vom Tagesablauf ( unter anderem auch ob jemand krank war.)Ich Arbeitete in verschiede Team. Ich habe verschiedenes gelernt. Wir hatten auch interne Schulung. Wir sind immer informiert worden. Arbeitsklima war sehr gut, wir waren ein tolles Team. Wir waren ein Team mit diverse Kulturen, wie auch Jüngere und ältere Personen zusammen. Wir kontrollierten die Dokumente, danach wurden diese gescannt, und laufend elektronisch erfasst. Ich Arbeitete selbständig denn ich wusste den Ablauf, jeden tag war anders ,je nach Posteingang. Vorgesetze sowie Teamleiter waren immer bereit um fragen zu beantworten sei es Geschäftlich, oder auch sonstige. Wir hatten alle das gleiche ziel, die Tagesproduktion zu verarbeiten.

Good company but salaries can be improved
The company is good but it depends who is your manager and your team. They have restructured over the years a few times. My personal experience has not been bad but there are stories of fellow members not having good experiences. As we all know what makes or breaks your job is who your boss is. All managers are not good managers and that goes with any company. The benefits is very good, no complaints. The vacation time, sick days and some other days they created are good. The work life balance is good but it depends what group you are in and who your manager is. If you have a good manager they will accommodate you, once you can make up the work or you prove trustworthy. Let’s be honest some companies are afraid that we will be home not actually working but at UBS there is no way you can really get away with not working (even at home) because there is escalations and emails so they will know if you are actively doing your job through the day. The people are overall nice but there are stories where people have had not good experiences with some. Sad but true especially when you hear it. Sorry to say, there are snakes you may encounter in your own group (smile in your face but very two face) but that with any company. There are nice individuals that you genuinely will bond with and will make you laugh within your dept and cross depts. it’s like everywhere else. Great company as PaineWebber, not so much as UBS
My position was working support and system administration in the Home Offices in Weehawken and Jersey City, NJ. This review is relative to IT, not the brokerage or bank side. I worked at PaineWebber before it was purchased and eventually re-branded as UBS. As PaineWebber, the opportunities were great, management seemed to care about its workers, and the value added to the company was appreciated. After UBS took over, everything (and everyone) became a number. Can we save money by laying off employees and outsourcing development? Sure and the product was released in 1 week instead of a month. The release reports look great to upper management, but what they don't tell you is that support spends the next 2 months fixing a broken product or they need to replace it all together. Eventually the mantra became "outsource everything" and managers were more focused on keeping their jobs than worrying about the employees under them. "Management cliques" formed and the average worker was left to fend for themselves. When one manager left (usually to another company) about 2 to 3 middle managers left with him or her. The employees that remained usually got an "offshore" manager that didn't even bother hiding their disdain for the group they inherited. Within one year I went through no less than 5 management changes. Year end reviews were treated with a bell curve. Unreasonable worklife balance
Having worked here a for several years now, I can honestly say that I would never recommend any of my friends or relatives to work for UBS despite the monetary incentives available for this. Whilst pay seems to be akin to what you might expect, most roles will kill your lifestyle balance. There are so many people off with stress, and not just for short periods, but for extended periods of time. Mistakes are rife, corners being cut and it really affects moral. Your colleagues are the best point about working there which is often said. It makes the job fun, and interesting at times. It has certainly made me think twice about leaving so far. Lots of challenges day to day which makes the job interesting and fulfilling at times. Management has their head in the clouds and are all about how they look amongst their peers across the group rather than for the client or employees. Too busy patting each other on the back, rather than actually addressing issues in their teams. Lots of mixed messenging from management. I think the management issues is result of the way Performance is measured in the company. It's based on relative performance, and not actual performance. If people leave then it is a battle to replace, as every management function is looking to cut costs. A positive is that there is a lot training and development tools available to the individual, but little or no time to take advantage due to workload and stress. Professional and encouraging work environment
General work involved a mix of marketing and financial reporting. As the marketing intern, the main responsibilities were to perform social media advertising and client research for the team. Financial reports and data sheets were constructed and prepared for the team in preparation for meetings, and the team's website and marketing materials were kept in check and up to date. Working for UBS Financial Services provided me with great experience in wealth and investment management. My analytical skills were continually tested and developed as I conducted research for the team and completed increasingly complex projects. The co-workers I had with this team were all experienced in their fields and allowed me to learn much from them. Not a great place to build a career
Speaking for Wealth Management business. After 8 years, the layoffs finally caught up with me. Company has been in downsizing mode for years and layoffs are a regular occurrence. But at the same time, they are hiring people? Go figure. Seems like they are churning the staff to bring in the people and form the teams the way they want. Company is going through a lot of changes. People being asked to do more with less resources. A lot of good people going out the door, both on their own and by RIF. Very serious brain drain. No raises in years. Little to no bonuses in years. Reviews are a joke - they make no sense, and no one can really explain how they really work, except in corporate-speak. A lot of people got downgraded this year for no apparent reason. Seems like they are trying to drive some people out without having to lay them off. Then, if they don't go, they get laid off because they were deemed to be a weak link. Then they can bring in the people they really want. Decent benefits when they're not cutting back on them. Lots of technology outsourcing; developers brought in from consulting companies who have no business being there. Atmosphere being driven more and more by Type A overachievers. If you are part of an inner circle, you will go somewhere. If not, good luck - you'll be spinning your wheels. Successful brokerage firm with room for growth
UBS was a fantastic company to work for. A typical day began with ensuring all Account Transfers were entered into UBS software system before the 10am deadline. Once completed, I would ensure all new account paperwork was correctly filled out and any and all changes were made to the account. Around mid-day I would receive incoming checks and apply the deposits to the corresponding accounts. Through out the day I would also assist in entering stock tickets and trades as needed. Aside from my own responsibilities I would assist my two close quartered co-workers in whatever they needed. I really learned a lot in my short time at UBS. It was my first job after graduating college and it was exciting to watch the financial advisors in action and learn the ins and outs of the market first hand. The management at UBS was wonderful, I formed a great relationship with all of them. They quickly saw I was a hardworking, fast learning, respectable "kid"...as they called me at the time. My co-workers were a great bunch, they were all fairly seasoned employees and really took the time to ensure I understood what was expected of me and were very patient in transferring their knowledge onto me. The hardest part of the job was deadlines. Often times I was presented with a trade, or new account paperwork or a check that needed to get done within minutes of a deadline. Der Wandel einer klassischen Universalbank zur Digitalbank wird kaum spurlos an der Front und in den Führungsetagen vorbeigehen. Restrukturierungswellen dürften wohl auch in naher Zukunft anstehen.
