At Julius Baer, we celebrate and value the individual qualities you bring, enabling you to be impactful, to be entrepreneurial, to be empowered, and to create value beyond wealth. Let’s shape the future of wealth management together.
At Julius Baer, we are committed to empowering our teams through a DevOps-driven approach. To achieve this, we are focused on developing scalable platforms that enable our product teams to self-serve their infrastructure and resource needs. As our application landscape evolves, we're investing in the expansion of our infrastructure automation capabilities - with Crossplane and Kubernetes-native control planes at the core of that strategy.
Join our team as a Platform Engineer and play a key role in designing and delivering automation solutions that drive efficiency across the organization by replacing manual processes with automated self-service offerings.
Lead the design, development, and implementation of Kubernetes-native control planes using Crossplane, building providers and functions in Golang following the Kubernetes Operator pattern
Design and extend self-service infrastructure offerings that let product teams provision and manage their own resources reliably and at scale
Build and maintain workflow automation on our orchestration platform, including writing and reviewing the underlying business logic in JavaScript and other scripting languages (we're also evaluating and migrating toward a new automation tooling stack, so adaptability here matters)
Enable and coach product teams on how to build and extend their own automations on top of the platform, through documentation, workshops, and hands-on guidance - supporting our self-service strategy beyond just building the platform itself
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives and technical strategies
Contribute technical expertise to the team and help shape technical roadmaps and strategic direction for our automation platforms
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the control plane and automation tooling, and recommend improvements
Stay up to date with the latest trends in cloud-native computing, Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation, and apply this knowledge to continuously improve our solutions
Contribute to technical documentation, including design documents, implementation guides, and operational procedures
Ensure compliance with industry standards, best practices, and organisational policies
Minimum 3 years of experience developing and operating Kubernetes Operators, ideally using Golang and the Crossplane framework, to provision and continuously reconcile resources
Experience building or extending workflow automation tooling including writing business logic in JavaScript, Python, PowerShell, or similar - deep expertise in any specific vendor tool is not required, as we understand tools change over time
Expert knowledge of Kubernetes and the cloud-native computing ecosystem
Strong understanding of software development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps tooling
Experience with Golang and at least one scripting language such as JavaScript, PowerShell, or Python
Experience with Git and agile development methodologies
Understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure (Windows, Linux, networking, virtualisation, cloud) is a big plus
Proven experience delivering technical projects independently, and collaborating effectively with multiple technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience teaching, coaching, or enabling other teams or engineers to adopt new tools and ways of working (e.g. through workshops, documentation, or pairing), even without formal people-management responsibility
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
Ability to quickly grasp complex requirements, fast learner, highly proactive
Proven track record in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Fluent in English, German is a plus
