Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced IT Application Manager - Manufacturing & Operations Systems to support and enhance business-critical applications used across our manufacturing and operational environments. This role sits within the IT Production Systems (IT-PS) team and is responsible for the day-to-day management, support, continuous improvement, and lifecycle management of manufacturing-related applications across multiple sites.You will work closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and external vendors to ensure stable, compliant, and efficient application services that support our global production organization. The role also includes participation in application upgrades, migrations, system integrations, and digital transformation initiatives within a regulated medical device environment.
Principal Responsibilities
Ensure stable and compliant operation of manufacturing and operational applications under your ownership
Process and coordinate Incidents, Service Requests, Problems, and Change Requests in a timely manner
Manage the complete application lifecycle, including upgrades, patches, releases, and vendor support activities
Maintain application documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures
Monitor application availability, performance, recoverability, and resource utilization
Communicate proactively with business users and support teams regarding service disruptions, planned maintenance, and system changes
Provide application support and guidance to business users and site stakeholders
Coordinate activities between vendors, support teams, developers, infrastructure teams, and business functions
Participate in application roadmap planning, continuous improvement initiatives, and strategic technology reviews
Support requirements gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, and user acceptance activities
Ensure operational documentation, support procedures, and user guides remain current and complete
Support compliance, validation, and audit activities for regulated systems where applicable
Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate application-related risks
Contribute to manufacturing and operational system modernization, integration, and cloud migration initiatives
Education / Experience Requirements
Degree in Information Technology, Business Informatics, Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification3-5+ years of experience in application support, application lifecycle management, or IT systems management
Experience supporting manufacturing, operations, quality, engineering, supply chain, or related business functions
Experience in project delivery, process management, business analysis, or requirements engineering
Experience working in a regulated environment is preferred
Experience managing external vendors and service providers
Specialized Skills / Other Requirements
Understanding of manufacturing and operational business processes within a production environment
Experience with manufacturing-related applications such as MES, ERP-integrated systems, quality systems, labeling systems, shop-floor applications, reporting platforms, or similar operational solutions
Familiarity with Computer System Validation (CSV), GAMP 5, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and/or EU Annex 11 is advantageous
Experience in the medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries is an advantage
Basic understanding of application architecture, interfaces, databases (SQL Server or Oracle), and system integrations
Experience working with SAP-integrated environments is a plus
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
German (B1 minimum) and English conversational proficiency
