The role
We build finger-vein biometric identification systems, from the optics and electronics of our own scanners up to the identity platform that runs them.
We are looking for the engineer who will own the next generation of that device. You will take it from concept through prototype to a manufacturable product: sensor and illumination architecture, the embedded platform, the firmware that drives acquisition, and the industrialisation work that turns a working board into something a contract manufacturer can build repeatably.
This is a hands-on senior role with real ownership. You will be the reference person for the scanner hardware inside a company of a dozen people, working directly with our imaging, platform and QA colleagues and with external design and manufacturing partners.
What you will do
- Own the architecture and development of the next-generation infrared imaging device, hardware and embedded software together.
- Write and maintain production-grade embedded software
- Drive image acquisition quality: sensor configuration, illumination control, timing, calibration, and the trade-offs between them.
- Take designs through industrialisation: DFM review, test and calibration procedures, bring-up, and the CI and build automation that supports it (GitLab CI).
- Work with external electronics, mechanical and manufacturing partners, and hold them to spec.
- Support, debug and upgrade the devices already in the field.
What we need from you
- Substantial industrial experience delivering embedded products that shipped, not only prototypes. We are thinking roughly 7 years or more, but we care about what you have built, not the number.
- Solid electronics background: you can read a schematic, reason about a sensor datasheet, and debug on a bench with a scope and a logic analyser.
- Strong embedded software skills in a systems language (Rust, C, C++), on embedded Linux.
- Experience carrying a design through to manufacturing, with the QA and supply-chain reality that involves.
- The autonomy and communication habits a small team depends on: you decide, you document, and you tell people early when something is off track.
- Professional English. French is useful, not required.
- The right to work in Switzerland, or eligibility to obtain it.
What would make you stand out
- Rust in production on embedded targets.
- Optical or imaging systems experience: cameras, illumination, calibration, stereo.
- Computer vision, machine learning or biometrics background.
- Embedded Linux internals, kernel, device drivers, Yocto or Buildroot.
- Security-minded development: secure boot, key handling, device attestation.
- Comfort with modern AI-assisted development tools.
