Join u‑blox as a
Senior Hardware Engineer in our Board Level Hardware Team (BLH) and help shape the next generation of our positioning products.
You will play a key technical leadership role within our Hardware Development organization, working closely with Product Owners, Hardware Developers, System Integration teams, and Product Development teams to drive consistent and scalable hardware solutions across our product portfolio.
With a strong focus on our
High Precision GNSS product line, you will help define reusable hardware concepts, guide key technology decisions, and ensure technical alignment across multiple product developments. Your expertise will influence future generations of GNSS modules, evaluation kits, and supporting hardware platforms used in industrial automation, robotics, and other high-accuracy positioning applications.
This role is ideal for an experienced hardware engineer who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with technical leadership, mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, and long-term hardware strategy.
This role can be based in
Thalwil, Switzerland or Espoo, Finland or Athens, Greece all of which are strong engineering hubs and key u‑blox development locations.
Your Responsibilities
- Define and maintain hardware concepts, building blocks, and design guidelines across GNSS product developments.
- Drive technical alignment and standardization across product teams, promoting reuse and consistency of hardware solutions.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Development teams, System Integration, and IC development teams to translate requirements into scalable hardware designs.
- Own and develop the hardware architectures and designs, including RF front-end, clocking, filtering, and related subsystems.
- Review and guide hardware developments, ensuring alignment with established technical standards , best practices, and long-term product objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to hardware developers and support complex technical decision-making.
- Engage with suppliers and partners to evaluate new technologies and define future hardware solutions.
- Contribute as a senior hardware engineer to product developments, providing hands-on expertise where required.
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience developing complex RF, analog, digital, and mixed-signal products, ideally in wireless communication or positioning systems.
- Strong expertise in RF systems, receiver front-end design, and antenna integration, combined with a solid understanding of power, clocking, memory, and digital interfaces.
- Extensive experience in hardware verification and validation, including laboratory characterization, performance optimization, debugging, and root-cause analysis.
- Ability to define reusable hardware concepts, design guidelines, and technical standards for complex electronic products.
- Solid knowledge of GNSS technology and its implications on hardware architecture, system integration, and performance verification.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams and disciplines.
Bonus Points
- Experience with PCB design and design reviews in the Altium Designer environment
- Familiarity with mechanical CAD tools (preferably SolidWorks).
- Programming skills (Python, Matlab, C) for simulation, automation, and analysis workflows.
