Role Overview
We are seeking a talented and innovative Quantum Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about quantum computing and eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The internship focuses on researching and developing quantum computing applications, exploring optimization and AI use cases, and supporting the evaluation of emerging quantum technologies that may enhance our investment and automation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Quantum Research and Development
- Research quantum computing concepts and emerging technologies relevant to finance, optimization, and artificial intelligence.
- Design and implement quantum circuits using Qiskit.
- Test and evaluate algorithms on simulators and IBM Quantum hardware.
Algorithm Development
- Implement foundational quantum algorithms such as Deutsch–Jozsa, Grover's Search, and Quantum Fourier Transform.
- Explore hybrid quantum-classical algorithms for optimization and machine learning problems.
- Analyze algorithm performance and document findings.
Experimentation and Analysis
- Develop Jupyter notebooks for experiments and demonstrations.
- Analyze simulation and hardware results using Python and scientific libraries.
- Prepare technical reports summarizing experiments, observations, and recommendations.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the AI, software development, and research teams on exploratory projects.
- Read and summarize research papers, documentation, and technical resources.
- Present findings and contribute ideas for future quantum initiatives.
Qualifications
Required / Core Skills
Quantum Foundations
- Understanding of quantum computing fundamentals: qubits, superposition, entanglement, and measurement.
- Familiarity with quantum gates and circuit-based computation (X, H, CNOT, rotation gates, etc.).
- Knowledge of foundational algorithms including Deutsch–Jozsa, Grover's Search, and Quantum Fourier Transform (Shor's algorithm at a conceptual level is sufficient).
- Basic understanding of quantum measurement, noise, and decoherence.
Programming
- Strong proficiency in Python.
- Hands-on experience with Qiskit, including circuit construction, transpilation basics, and running jobs on simulators or IBM Quantum Platform.
- Familiarity with NumPy, Matplotlib, and Jupyter Notebooks.
Mathematics
- Knowledge of linear algebra, including complex vector spaces, unitary matrices, tensor products, and eigenvalues.
- Understanding of probability theory.
- Familiarity with complex numbers and Dirac (bra-ket) notation.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to variational quantum algorithms (VQE, QAOA).
- Familiarity with quantum error mitigation concepts.
- Experience with Git/GitHub and collaborative software development workflows.
Soft Skills / Profile
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and summarize technical papers and documentation.
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn rapidly evolving technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
