ONWARD Medical is a Euronext-listed medical technology company creating innovative therapies to restore movement, function, and independence in people with spinal cord injury (SCI).
This newly created position has been established to support the continued growth of the Company and the expansion of its commercial organisation.
The Analyst, Strategic Finance & FP&A provides financial planning, analysis and decision support to business leaders across the organisation. The role is business-facing and hands-on: the incumbent serves as the primary finance contact for the functions they support, and uses financial and operational data to inform and drive business discussions.
As a newly created position within a function that is still being built, the incumbent will contribute directly to the design of the Company’s planning processes, reporting architecture and analytical tooling, rather than inheriting an established framework.
The role reports to the Senior Finance Manager, Strategic Finance & FP&A, with direct exposure to the CFO and the leadership team. The scope of the role is expected to grow alongside the Company.
Key responsibilities
Planning and forecasting
- Support the annual budget, periodic re-forecastsand the long-range plan, from template preparation through to consolidation and final deliverables.
- Partner with budget owners to develop detailed financial plans andvalidatethe underlying assumptions.
- Prepare,maintainand enhance the financial models and planning tools supporting the cycle.
- Monitor performance against plan throughout the year and escalate material deviations.
Finance business partnering
- Serve as finance business partner to leaders across Commercial, Operations, R&D and G&A, providing financial guidance to support the management of their budgets and the achievement of their objectives.
- Analyse financial and operational results, distil key messages and present clear recommendations to business partners.
- Identify and understand business challenges; propose and implement solutions.
- Report trends, risks and opportunities to business partners on a proactive basis.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the business, its markets and its cost drivers.
Reporting and analysis
- Prepare the monthly management reporting package and present financial performance and its underlying drivers to management.
- Perform variance analysis on revenue, cost and profitability against budget and forecast, and identify root causes.
- Design and maintain KPI reporting to support decision-making across the organisation.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and decision support to the leadership team.
Automation and process improvement - represent a significant part of this role.
- Identify and eliminate recurring manual activity across the planning and reporting cycle.
- Develop dashboards and self-service reporting to improve access to financial information across the business.
- Enhance data flows between Business Central (ERP) and the planning and reporting environment, in coordination with IT.
- Document models and processes to ensure they are robust, repeatable and transferable.
