Join our innovative R&D team at the Cheseaux site, specializing in Optical Emission and XRF-XRD Spectroscopy, to make a meaningful impact on scientific advancement, working on sophisticated projects that directly impact product development and customer success. As an R&D Analytical Specialist, you will play an important role in the development of next generation of products, and new applications for Spark Optical Emission spectrometers. You will actively participate to the life cycle of the instruments and applications, by sustaining our internal/external customers when a deep analytical knowledge is requested.
RESPONSABILITIES

Participate in development of new product and technology concepts and specifications with multidisciplinary teams

Participate in testing, validation and optimization of new products and technologies in collaboration with other R&D functions

Develop new applications for existing and new instruments, and provide all the necessary technical information and documentation to Operations, Service and Marketing teams

Design, execute experiments and analyze the resulting data to resolve technical challenges

Demonstrate leadership and willingness for continuous improvement

Once experienced, lead one workstream of an innovative technical project

Provide analytical support for existing products and applications, to Operations, Service, Marketing, Sales, and Customers, when a deep analytical expertise and a perfect knowledge of the instruments is required

Mentor colleagues (as new hired or less experienced colleagues)

PhD or equivalent degree, plus minimum 3 years of cumulative technical experience

Preferred fields of study: chemistry, physics, material science, geology or related discipline

Demonstrated expertise in laboratory techniques and instrumentation, ideally with spectroscopic techniques and solid-state image sensors (CCD, CMOS, CID, etc.)

Proven experience in problem solving, analytical skills and technical troubleshooting skills, with ability to design experiments and interpret complex data

Proficiency with relevant software and data analysis tools (such as advanced Excel and macros, Python, Matlab, etc.), and good knowledge of statistics. Knowledge of AI tools is a plus

Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks

Excellent documentation skills

Strong written and verbal communication abilities to present technical information to diverse audiences

Experience leading technical projects, and ideally mentoring colleagues

Proficient in English, knowledge of French is a plus

Knowledge in metallurgy is a plus

May require travel <20%
