Your tasks

The muon electric dipole moment experiment, muEDM at PSI, is searching for a signal of CP-violation beyond the Standard-Model. Together with the international collaboration you will:

Take first data on storage, spin precession, and frozen-spin state of muons
Participate in data analysis and work on dedicated aspects related to the magnetic field of the storage trap
Further characterizing the magnetic field of the storage trap using dedicated sensors and particle detectors
Contribute to a better understanding of systematic effects and help to improve experimental sensitivity

Your profile

Master’s degree in physics with strong interest in low energy particle physics
Knowledge of computational numerical methods, i.e. Monte Carlo simulations, Python for data analysis, finite element methods, etc.
Practical experience in experimental techniques is appreciated (e.g. electronics, detectors, DAQ)
Ability to work independently
Proficient level of English as working language in spoken and written form is mandatory
Knowledge of German or willingness to quickly learn German is a plus
