Die Position
The Manufacturing Science& Technology (MSAT) team, part of Sensor& Cartridge (S) Operations, is dedicated to supporting the manufacturing and quality control of Roche Blood Gas and Electrolyte (BG) Sensors and Reagents. These systems are a critical part of first-frontier diagnostics, delivering fast, reliable results in patient-critical settings like the intensive care unit, emergency room, and operating room. We are a dynamic and interdisciplinary team committed to improving product quality and driving continuous improvement. Within our Continuous Improvement scope, this position focuses on deep-dive data analysis, yield experiments, and line simulations to unlock production potential.
We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our team inRotkreuz, Switzerland.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to our Process Improvement (PI) initiatives within BG operations. Your work will center on deep-dive data analysis (costs, yield, analytics, production simulation) to uncover optimization opportunities like barriers to execution or throughput bottlenecks.
The Opportunity
As an MSAT intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the medical device industry by contributing to critical analytical and optimization tasks. Your work will directly impact our ability to produce life-saving diagnostic systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Process Improvement (PI): Analyzing production processes and associated data from various angles, such as manufacturing costs, yield experiments, or QC analytics. Reporting findings and conclusions to drive decisions.
- Lean Development: Contributing to the development of new and existing ideas for process improvements, helping to shape them according to Lean Manufacturing principles and implementing them under GxP conditions.
- Production Simulation: Running simulations of our modern, highly automated production line to identify throughput bottlenecks and extract the key levers that drive throughput during production rampup. Translating outputs into concrete, actionable recommendations in close collaboration with production.
- Risk Analysis: Supporting process risk analyses (pFMEA) by preparing operational inputs, documenting technical outcomes, and assisting the team in systematically identifying and mitigating risks.
- Document& Change Management: Creating and managing GxP-compliant documents (manufacturing and QC process documentation, work instructions) with a focus on integrating sustainability into documentation practices. Supporting necessary regulatory change management processes.
- Knowledge Documentation: Ensuring project knowledge is well-documented in Wiki articles for easy access and retention.
Who You Are
You are a current Bachelor or Master student (or graduated within the last 12 months) inlife sciences, chemistry, process engineering, biotechnology, applied informatics, or a related field. You are highly analytical, enthusiastic about operational excelence, and eager to experience a real-world manufacturing environment through the lens of continuous improvement.
Additionally, you bring:
- Excellent collaboration skills to coordinate tasks with both internal and external partners.
