THE OPPORTUNITY
As Senior Manager, Head of 3PL & Improvement Management, you will lead a team responsible for the governance and performance of third-party logistics (3PL) providers as well as the continuous improvement agenda across the Logistics & Warehousing Switzerland organization. You will ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient logistics operations beyond the physical site boundaries, enabling uninterrupted supply to manufacturing.
In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end 3PL landscape, including external warehousing and service provider performance, while driving process improvements, digitalization, and automation initiatives across the Logistics & Warehousing network within Switzerland. You will ensure strong performance management through clear KPIs and act as a key interface between internal stakeholders and external partners.
YOUR TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
SAFETY & LEADERSHIP
- Lead with a visible safety mindset: ensure full compliance with EHS requirements, drive safety culture, investigate near misses / accidents, and implement sustainable preventive measures together with safety officers.
- Lead, coach, motivate and develop staff to deliver on CSL’s values of Patient Focus, Innovation, Integrity, Collaboration and Superior Performance
- Build a strong performance and talent pipeline through clear objectives, regular feedback, development plans, and accountability for outcomes.
- Foster and maintain a continuous improvement mentality within the group
RELIABILITY & OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
- Ensure compliant, reliable, and efficient execution of logistics operations across the 3PL landscape to meet production requirements.
- Lead and develop a team of ~5 FTE, with full accountability for 3PL performance management and the delivery of improvement initiatives.
- Take full ownership of inventory management across the 3PL network, ensuring accurate stock records and audit ready inventory verification.
- Lead complex cross-functional projects and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, ensuring delivery of COS-driven (CSL Operating System) cost reduction targets while maintaining full GxP compliance.
- Lead and steer project managers, ensuring clear prioritization, transparency, and on-time delivery of project outcomes.
- Define and manage logistics KPIs, ensure transparent performance reporting to stakeholders, and drive implementation of corrective actions where required.
- Drive structured problem-solving, investigations, and process validation for new or enhanced logistics processes.
QUALITY & COMPLIANCE
- Own the implementation and continuous improvement of processes and systems ensuring compliance with cGMP, GDP requirements for site logistics.
Represent 3PL and Improvement Management in authority and internal audits; ensure timely and effective execution of CAPA commitments and robust investigations with long-lasting corrective/preventive actions.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 6+ years' experience in supply chain logistics or related operations
- Demonstrated strong leadership/mentoring skills to also manage remote sites and staff
- Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with strong project management expertise
- Bachelor degree in business, science or related discipline
- Strong Communication skills - Ability to clearly communicate to all levels of the organization
- Proven negotiation and conflict management skills
- Fluent in English and German (written and verbally)
- Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing Methodologies
- Solid cGMP, and GDP experience (5+ years) in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry
- Proficiency in materials management systems / SAP applications.
