We are seeking a highly skilled backend developer to join our dynamic team at a leading financial institution. The developer shall be part of the global CoE Software Solutions team within Markets IT based in Zürich.
Develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical financial platforms with focus on performance, security, and scalability
Work extensively in C# or Java , leveraging strong typing and static language principles for robust solutions
Drive containerization initiatives using Kubernetes to modernize application architecture
Build and optimize backend services and APIs , ensuring reliability, efficiency, and data integrity
Collaborate closely with traders, business stakeholders, and developers to gather requirements and deliver innovative features
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies , PI planning, and cross-location team alignment within Markets
Ensure code quality and ownership through peer reviews, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and adherence to best practices
Integrate core systems with third-party services, enabling seamless data exchange across platforms
Provide responsive first-line support and troubleshooting across development and production environments
Contribute to front-end improvements using JavaScript and React (a strong advantage, though not required)
Champion risk awareness and compliance — meeting internal controls, regulatory standards, and secure coding practices
Foster collaboration across time zones, supporting a culture of shared learning, feedback, and high-performing teamwork
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; 10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in backend development
Expert proficiency in C# within large-scale, enterprise-grade systems; solid experience in Java (plus)
Deep hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and MongoDB , including performance tuning, query optimization, and data modelling
Strong background in event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ , and building high-performance APIs via gRPC and GraphQL
Proven experience in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environments, collaborating with global teams across time zones (e.g., Switzerland and Singapore)
Skilled in cloud-native development on Microsoft Azure , including Docker, Kubernetes , and managed services (App Services, Functions, Service Bus)
Committed to software excellence – experienced in code reviews, CI/CD, and enforcing engineering best practices
