Description
TOFWERK is are seeking a visionary Head of Multi-Reflection Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (MR–TOF-MS) Development to spearhead the ideation, prototyping, and commercialization of next-generation mass analyzers. You will lead a multidisciplinary team of physicists, electrical engineers, and software developers to push the boundaries of ultra-high resolving power, mass accuracy, and in-situ analytical capabilities. You will direct the technical roadmap and long-term vision for the multi-reflection mass spectrometry product line, ensuring alignment with corporate and market objectives. You will partner closely with Product Management and Manufacturing teams to scale prototypes into fully compliant, manufacturable commercial instruments while driving the generation of patents.
Requirements
PhD in Chemistry or Physics
10+ years work experience in the development of multireflection time-of-flight mass spectrometers
Expert knowledge of instrument design
Expert knowledge of simulation software
Team player with great sense of responsibility
In depth analytical skills
Great time management and creativity
English fluently (C1 Level)
Responsibilities
Lead the development of multireflection time-of-flight mass spectrometers (MR TOF MS)
Design and test hardware components of multireflection time-of-flight mass spectrometers (vacuum system operation and design, mass spectrometer design, ion optics and detection systems, fast analog-to-digital data acquisition)
Running and characterizing prototype scientific equipment
Basic programming (Matlab, Python, Igor, or similar)
Use of simulation software (e.g. Simion)
Documentation of new inventions and evaluation of their potential for patentability
Collaboration with other departments and product managers for instrument development
