We are looking for a Senior Embedded Linux Software Engineer with particular focus on, but not limited to Nvidia Jetson platforms. The candidate will be taking on tasks within the AuterionOS ecosystem, from writing applications to adding driver support for new peripherals, maintaining system services and optimizing performance on embedded platforms. You will be working closely with:
- Linux running on embedded arm64 hardware
- C, Python, Bash codebases
- Engaged and friendly engineers from across Auterion
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support and maintain core Auterion products powered by Nvidia Jetson systems.
- Work within the Board Support team and collaborate with other development teams to build leading-edge products.
- Add features, solve bugs, write tests and improve the performance of software components running on AuterionOS, Auterion's custom embedded Linux distribution.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to understand both internal and customer use cases.
- Propose new software solutions and take ownership of the implementation. Your technical expertise will have a huge impact on bringing Auterion's drone products to market.
- Provide expert support (L3) to customers facing technical issues.
- Write clear and concise internal documentation, in addition to contributing to the public-facing knowledge base.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, as well as release planning and task prioritization meetings.
Qualifications and Skills
- B.Sc./M.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or a strong track record of Linux kernel open source contributions.
- 3+ years of professional experience with C (Linux kernel), Python, and embedded Linux on ARM64 platforms.
- Experience with embedded security (e.g. Secure Boot, UEFI, boot chain verification).
- Experience working with NVIDIA Jetson platforms, including hardware bring-up and peripheral integration.
- Extensive experience with embedded Linux development, including cross-compilation, debugging, performance optimization, device drivers, device tree configuration, U-Boot/CBoot, and UEFI.
- Expert Linux skills, including command-line tools, networking, system services, resource management, and Debian/Ubuntu-based systems.
- Experience with systemd, Debian packaging, Docker, and OTA update solutions (e.g. Mender).
- Experience integrating MIPI CSI cameras and familiarity with their electrical interfaces.
- Strong networking knowledge across the OSI stack, including hardware interfaces, IP addressing, routing, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and diagnostic tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Basic electrical engineering knowledge, including reading schematics and debugging I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN bus communications.
- Experience working in Agile teams, participating in stand-ups and sprint planning/management.
- Product-oriented mindset with the initiative to drive projects forward.
- Experience with NXP i.MX8 platforms and BSPs (nice to have).
- Contributions to open source projects, particularly within the Linux ecosystem (nice to have).
- Experience with CI/CD systems such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI (nice to have).
