About the Role
We are seeking a skilled AI/ML Data Scientist Intern to join our Analytics and Software Development team. In this internship, you will work at the intersection of climate science and data engineering, developing solutions that help our clients understand and respond to climate challenges. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex climate data into actionable intelligence.
What You'll Do
- Bring AI into crop-health analysis: Design and build an LLM-assisted system that combines field-level weather and remote sensing data to assess whether a yield shortfall or crop failure was actually caused by weather and to document the evidence behind that judgment.
- Enhance our existing data pipeline: Integrate LLM-based reasoning into our established, automated Python workflow, which already downloads weather and remote sensing data on a per field basis, runs multiple analyses and generates data visualizations.
- Keep humans in the loop: Build the system so that every AI-generated conclusion is transparent, explainable, and easily validated by a human expert before it reaches the client.
- Drive data quality and innovation: Conduct rigorous statistical analyses to evaluate, validate, and integrate new climate and remote sensing datasets into our system.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in natural sciences (agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, biology), engineering, or computer science.
- Strong proficiency in scientific data analysis with Python.
- Hands-on experience working with large language models (LLMs) and integrating them into real-world applications. We're especially interested in candidates who have gone beyond purely academic or theoretical use and applied LLMs to practical problems.
- Quick learner, self-motivated and autonomous with ability to thrive in fast-paced startup environments with evolving requirements
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Fluent English, any other language skills (German, French, Spanish) are welcomed
- Must have valid work permit for Switzerland

Contract Details
- Location: Stettbach, Zurich.
- Commitment: 80-100%
- Compensation: A fair intern salary that reflects your skills and contribution.
